Not the weekend we expected, quite.

Friday night we found ourselves heading to the E.R. to find out why Audrey's lips and hands appeared bluish, and an hour or so later, both kids were admitted to the pediatric unit for the night. Calvin was discharged the next day, but poor Audrey was diagnosed with pneumonia, plus a bronchial infection and spent the rest of the weekend on the pediatric unit. I'm sure I don't have to say that this was stressful, scary and surprising for us all. Topping off the surprises, this was Janna's weekend to visit us in Boston. Her plane landed at just about the same time we arrived at the hospital. So she got to spend a lot of time holding Calvin, and also helped Audrey take part in the I.V. pole derby up and down the hospital hallways.

Everyone is on the mend now, at home. Hospital staff were good to us and the stay was short. We learned a few things over the weekend, including how common it is for kids to get pneumonia and-- though it is serious-- how relatively basic the treatment is. We also found out that if you walk into an E.R. with a newborn and a toddler, you go right to the head of the line, no questions asked. Reassuring, but I hope it's a privilege I never need again.

Oh boy! Hope this is one experience you never have to repeat. Glad you knew enough to get help though, and know you'll all be on the mend soon enough. Lots of excuses to huddle in at home with hot chocolate and movies over the holidays.

How scary and stressful! I'm glad everyone is on the mend. Lots of love from our house, where Gregory continues to regard the other highchair as Audrey's!

Glad y'all are home and doing better, and glad to see Aunt Janna was able to help. I know how much fun the hospital was, especially with a toddler and newborn--Yikes!

I'm so sorry, Kris & Scott! What a scary experience. I'm glad Audrey's OK now, and that Calvin's OK... Please let us know if we can be of help in any way.
