Trot, Old Joe! (repeat, until voice gives out)

They say you should never give your child a book you would not want to read 1,000 times. The same goes for songs. When they haul us away to our padded cells, Scott and I will both be singing "Trot, Old Joe" making those frantic reining movements with our hands, and tossing our imaginary manes.

Please send help.

Too funny. That is one of Kai's favorite songs as well - it's on his Music Together CD.

I googled "Trot Old Joe" and found a website for Preschool Activities at Home, with lots of songs, and they had 3 verses: "Walk" Old Joe, "Trot" Old Joe and "Gallop" Old Joe. So there you have a little variety, just to maintain sanity... maybe you could add "Go to Sleep" Old Joe...?

We put Kai on our lap and bounce him while we sing, doing Fast Old Joe, Slow Old Joe, etc, and roll backward tickling him when it comes to "Whoa Joe!" He finds that to be delightful.

From the wail echoing down the staircase and into the phone at nap time this afternoon, we guess Audrey does not appreciate the "Go to Sleep" verse.

Great suggestion Jean! Mimi and PopPop liked it even though Audrey might not have.
